An early 20th Century detailed steam sail passenger ship 'S.S PARIS' housed in a glass fronted and gesso molded framed case.

Three funnels and masts, lifeboats, rigging, deck fittings, people, simulated sea and painted sky.

Quality deck fittings throughout with rigging and a figure at the helm of the flying bridge. The lovely lines of this model are partly due to the transition from sail to steam. The sails were kept for an emergency and extra power.

A really fantastic model, the quality and craftmanship of this model has to be seen to be believed, the images really don't do it justice.

SS Paris was a French ocean liner built for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. Although Paris was laid down in 1913, her launching was delayed until 1916, and she was not completed until 1921, due to World War I. When Paris was finally completed, she was the largest liner under the French flag, at 34,569 tons
