A Smiths Sestrel chrome ships clock mounted in a decorative wooden cog surround in good working order.
Marked to the dial 'F SMITH & SON. SOUTHAMPTON. SESTREL. MADE IN ENGLAND'.
F. Smith & son were a historic ships chandlery and nautical supplier based in Southampton in the early 20th Century, know for their high end instruments.
Written on the reverse of the clock is 'General Saloon. Lower deck', suggesting this came from a liner probably sailing out of Southampton at some point.
Smiths 8 day mechanical movement with secondary dial and speed regulator.
Chromed brass bulkhead style case with hinged front bezel and bevelled glass.
6" enamel dial with numbers, 'slow/fast' regulator located under 12 o'clock and the second dial below that. Winding port above 6 o'clock.
Total clock diameter 8" and total diameter with wood surround 13 1/2".
