A splendid example of an RNLI Fishermans Aneroid Barometer made by the esteemed makers Dolland of London.
As issued by the Royal National Life Boat Institution and numbered No.3762.
With a zinc case, hand annotated enamel dial in fabulous condition, heavy bevelled plate glass and a gilt tell tale.
Both Dolland and Negretti and Zambra were the only suppliers deemed of sufficient quality to produce these. Records show they were being sold as early as 1864. They were originally priced at £5 and 5 shillings.
These are becoming harder to find in good condition, this will hang in our hallway until it is sold!
