The RMS (Royal Mail Steamship) Oroya was a 460 foot steamship built for the London - Australia route via the Suez canal operated by the Pacific Steam Navigation Company (PSNC) which frequently ran under the Orient Line banner. She operated for over two decades in the late 19th to early 20th century with passengers, mail and cargo. She was praised by travellers for her smooth steady sailing through the intense weather of the Indian Ocean.
She was built by the Barrow Shipbuilding Company in Barrow-in-Furness, England and launched in 1886. She was scrapped in 1909 due to the advancement of twin screw liners.
