No.453

A large standing whale tooth mounted on a bakelite base, depicted to one side the Smack 'PLEDGE' measuring 15cm high x 9cm wide. We have seen this work many times and own a good amount of them.

A piece of paper came with this tooth with this information on it:-

The Smack 'Pledge' was built in Sandwich, Kent in 1846, registered in Hull in 1848 and thought to be from Ramsgate. It only made one voyage, probably to Grennland or the Davis Strait and was wrecked in 1849 at 'The Fishery'.
