No.428

A fossil Walrus tusk section scrimmed by the renowned artist Frank Barcelos and dated as being sold in 1989 in Newport, R.I. USA. A depiction of we think an orange headed Tanager, doesn't look quite right to be a Robin from the UK. Perhaps someone knows?! A beautifully executed piece of work and signed Frank B.

Measures 7cm x 4cm.

Francisco Jose de Barcelos arrived in the USA from the Azores in 1969 and his artwork and scrimshaw quickly became sought after by collectors and museums alike. His work being described as among the best of the modern practitioners of the art.
