A piece of Shipwreck treasure from the wreck of the Hollandia dated 1739.

Around the edge of the mount it reads 'TREASURE FROM "HOLLANDIA" SUNK 1743. sterling silver'

The "Hollandia" was wrecked off the Isles of Scilly in 1743 with the loss of all hands discovered in 1971.

A Spanish pillar dollar, eight reale or whole 'piece of eight'.

From the Spanish reign of Philip V.

Worn from years on the sea bed, mounted and presented with a sterling silver chain.

Measures 3.9cm diameter.
