An 'EPOCH' star globe by the famous instrument makers Kelvin and Hughes. Dated 1975.

Hollow sphere with applied paper, lacquered brass horizon with removable meridians all held in a wooden box with instructions to the inside of the lid. Pattern and serial numbers present.

This globe was made in the Philips' globe workshop in North London, in a period when star globes were needed by the Royal Navy during the Falklands War. Ships using stellar observation were required to have back up for their electronic systems, and the Admiralty required that every serving ship should have two globes.
