Dutch made military issue earthenware Naval plate by Petrus Regout of Maastricht, Holland. The mark used on the reverse of a Sphinx atop the lettering 'Petrus. Regout a Co. MAASTRICHT. MADE IN HOLLAND' means a manufacture date after 1883.
This was part of the 'Marines' or 'Navires'  transferware series as proved by the letter M impressed to the underside alongside 7 3/4 and a broad arrow.
The broad arrow signifies the British Government property mark and 7 3/4 is the diameter of the plate in inches. It bears crossed cannons and a Dutch crown to the centre with a fruit and foliage continuos border around the edge.
The canon bears a W below the crown for Queen Wilhelmina. The British Navy would have ordered these and then stamped the reverse with the broad arrow.
