A 930 silver guilloche enamel box in homage to Napolean Bonaparte and Empress Josephine circa 1890-1920.
Vibrant deep blue enamel lid reflecting the 'Royal Blue' associated with French Imperial history complimented by gemstones of Lapis Lazuli, garnets, carnelian and possible white seed pearls.
The box measures 9cm x 7cm x 4cm high approx and is stamped 930 to the underside denoting continental silver.
The lid features two distinct portrait miniatures under glass framed in a silver ribbon border with an underlying silver scroll banner featuring their respective names. Centred above and between them is a high relief cast silver Imperial crown, the silver sides feature a repeating pattern of geometric and scroll refief border.
A really good example of premium craftmanship of its time, the hinged lid intact with a good close.
