An early 20th Century embossed copper commemorative memorial plaque titled 'ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION' to the top central panels. With four scenes from the 'Terra Nova' expedition quartered on a central rectangular area. The scenes depict from left to right the ship, the polar team man hauling a sledge, the team at the Pole, the burial place of the team and centrallt the motif of the teams ships cat 'Nigger'. The Polar team consisted of Oates, Scott, Bowers, Wilson and Evans as embossed around the edges of this plaque, the corners depicting Scott, his wife Kathleen, their son Peter and another view of the burial monument. The scene is mounted in a concave ebonised worn frame with a copper plaque that reads 'Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori' - 'It is glorious to die for your country'.

The team of Polar explorers fate was sealed in 1912.
