Geometric design black Naval Mess plate number 21.
These types of Mess plates were produced in the mid to late 1800's where elaborate artwork wasn't needed. I don't think we've owned one of this type before and although not as elaborate as the blue and white type they are certainly rare. We believe this to have been brought up from an unknown wreck outside Gibraltar in the 70's. There is no makers mark to the reverse.
Has some pitting and surface cracks due to its seabed life as shown in the images.
