'Dent' binnacle

The most famous of all binnacles, a 'Dent' binnacle circa 1900, 12" in height by 10" square approx. This type of binnacle won the Admiralty prize and was the type used by Shackleton on his epic 800 mile journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia.
