A beautifully straw worked sewing box made by the hand of a prisoner of war. (Probable Napoleonic) With a harbour scene to the lid of ships, trees, buildings and people with a chequer board border. It has a lock but no key. The sides are decorated in foliate design and the lid opens to reveal a mirrored underside depicting curtains in green and gold straw work. Three central compartments that all have lift up lids, the centre one revealing  straw work of a bird sitting in a tree, two pink colour pin cushions to the top of the two smaller compartments.

Measures 28cm long x 9cm high x 19.5cm deep.
