Nelson dish by Jones - 1820's

Item Notes:

This Fruit dish is from the 'British History' series made by Jones and Son of Hanley who were in business from 1826. Little is known about Jones and Son and they were not in business very long as far as I know. The design is as you can see of the 'Death of Lord Nelson'. The border is adorned with alternate motifs showing respectively the crown and mitre, and a group of military accoutrements. It is not known what engravings have been used on plates belonging to the same set.  The first one of these I bid on ended up at £5000 +. This one is in very good condition with very minor discolouration to the white edge and the flat base underside. It measures 11.5" x 14.5" and is scallop edged. . I have never seen the others from the series. These are fairly rare and of museum standard .
