Ships' figurehead Maquette

 

Item Notes: A small ships' figurehead maquette, being a three dimensional model of a larger sculpture. Acquired in a folk art collection in Ormond beach, Florida, USA. 12 1/2" of outstanding detail, such as the buttons on the vest and his hair. The overall condition is excellent with no cracks or chips, the wood has a very smooth feel. This item is very similar in appearance to a maquette pictured in the book 'The index of American Figureheads'.
