Item Notes:

A struck, not cast copper or bronze historical medal of the Victory of Jutland Bank May 31st 1916. 3" diameter. The Front side of the medal has a British lion trampling an eagle and to the reverse, Victory standing on a dolphin. The inscription on the reverse reading - 'THE GERMAN HIGH SEA FLEET HELD AGAINST ODDS TILL ROUTED BY INVINCIBLE MIGHT - ADMIRAL JELLICOE, VICE ADMIRAL BEATTY, AVSP.REC.MCMXVI, SOC.NVM.PRAES.A.E'.

This piece was one of the winning designs in the competition instituted by Sir Arthur Evans, President of the Royal Numismatic Society. Profits from the sales of these medals were donated to the Royal Navy relief funds.
